Edmund (Ed) Fechner went to be with his Lord, passing peacefully with family by his side on Friday September 27th, 2019 at the age of 89.

Earlier this year he was predeceased by his wife Liwia to which God had granted them 67 years of marriage. He is survived by his son Seigfried (Hilda), and daughter Rosemarie (Ruben); and five grandchildren Janine, Corina (Dan), Arienne (Jeff), Ryan and Sophia.

Ed was born June 20th, 1930 in Wolhynien Poland. He was the only son of Maria and Gustav Fechner. Ed immigrated to Canada in 1953 with his wife Liwia and with his infant son Siegfried. In 1958 he had a daughter Rose. He leaves behind 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

In Chilliwack he was a bricklayer with a business he ran for many decades. He was well known and celebrated for his excellent craftsmanship, friendly personable character, and quality of his work. Ed was passionate about what he did, and always worked with honesty and integrity.

Ed spent his years joyously being a tour guide for Chilliwack to the many visitors that stayed at his home; Chilliwack a city he loved deeply. Through the years, him and his precious wife Liwia made countless friends wherever they went. Ed was a dedicated servant of the Lord, who he thanked generously for all he had in his life. To this day, many houses stand in Chilliwack with his craftsmanship built within their walls.

He will be dearly missed by friends and family for his gentle, kind and positive ways, always having a smile or something kind to say and an ear to listen.

A funeral service will be held at: Church of God, 45814 Lewis Ave, Chilliwack at 1:00PM to celebrate Edmund’s life. There will be a viewing to pay respects on Friday Oct 4th, 2019 from 7pm – 9pm at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home in Chilliwack. All are welcome to attend.

The Fechner/Bilan family would like to thank the Chilliwack Hospice Care team for their kindness, and support through Ed’s final two weeks with us here on earth. Your thoughtfulness and care in making him feel contented, happy and peaceful allowed him to feel at peace as he journeyed on home to heaven. We are thankful and appreciative for all you did. We would also like to say a heartful and grateful thanks to Dr. Markey and Dr. Wolff for their specialized care for Ed in the final few years of his life.

I love you Dad. I miss you dearly. I miss your warm greetings, hugs and warm encouragements. You had so much passion in your work to provide for your family and because of it we were always blessed. You taught by example , a man of faith, loyal, forgiving and kind. I’ll miss making your favourite meals and how you were always so thankful for the smallest deed done for you.
You will be remembered everyday and my love for you will never end.
Til we meet again,
Your loving daughter, Rose

He was such a kind soul. We miss him dearly, however hes in a much better place now. No more pain and no more suffering. God surely used him greatly. Our children always looked up to him and respected him. Much love and prayers for the family who is grieving. 💌❤

Our deepest condolences on the passing of Ed. Many fond memories, but the one that comes to mind is seeing both Ed and Liwia at Sig's parents', gardening and harvesting their veggies. They will be missed. Lots of love.

Our memories are numerous, though Ed was such a strong man, he was also kind & humorous.
He knew what he believed and had experience life, good and bad times, but stayed true to God.

He truly loved his wife and family!

He will me missed by all.

Ed and Liwia were the sweetest couple we had ever met. Ed always made us feel that he was so sincerely happy to see us. He will be so missed as is Liwia.
