Frieda Dickinson (nee Hait) passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 21st, 2024, at Cascade Lodge in Chilliwack, BC, at the age of 85. She was born on July 25th, 1938, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, to Hedwig (nee Landgraff) and Otto Hait.
Frieda's memory will be cherished by her loving family: daughter Maria (Ken) Friesen, son James Dickinson, daughter Alexandra (Larry) Campbell, son Roger (Heather) Dickinson, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She will also be deeply missed by her siblings, extended family, and many friends.
Frieda was predeceased by her husband Cecil Dickinson, sister Dorothy Unrau, brother Don Hait, sister Erna Weisner, brother Al Hait and her parents, Hedwig (nee Landgraff) and Otto Hait. Frieda leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that touched the lives of all who knew her.
Frieda's life was marked by a spirit of adventure and a deep commitment to service. From her upbringing on the prairies and the Okanagan to her years teaching, raising her children, volunteering in church and later in missions overseas, she embraced every opportunity to make a difference in the world.
While attending Central Baptist church in Victoria, Frieda met Cecil Dickinson at a Young Adult meeting. Frieda married Cecil Dickinson on the 17th of July, 1965, at Victoria, British Columbia.
Her love for travel took her and Cecil on memorable journeys, including two camping trips across Canada and a memorable year in Australia. Later in life, they answered the call to service, living in Papua New Guinea and supporting the work of Wycliffe Bible Translators.
Frieda's faith was the cornerstone of her life. Whether through her involvement in church ministries at Saanichton Bible Fellowship and New Covenant Christian Fellowship, her dedication to her family, or her acts of kindness towards others, she lived out her faith in Jesus Christ with love and compassion.
Frieda's vibrant spirit and unwavering faith inspired all who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love and service will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
After their overseas service, Frieda and Dick retired to Saanichton. Due to declining health, they relocated to Chilliwack to be near daughter Alex and her family. The family expresses deep gratitude to Alex and the Cascade Lodge staff for their loving care during Frieda's final years. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
