One my earliest memories of Uncle Gordon honed my swim skills some 32 years ago. "Thumb down! Cut the surface". Those words many moons ago now has me confidently in and on some of BCs mightiest watery beasts... rescue, recovery and recreation. Thank you, sir.  You've changed my live, like so many others, for the best.

A light for you to find your way. 
Until we meet another day. 
So sad you had to go away. 
For you we all will pray.

I am #3 son of 4 living children from Gordon. Dad will be missed. He was a good father and cared for us all in his own unique way. He taught us to be strong and work hard. He taught us to be respectful and considerate. He used to say 
" don't get caught standing around with your hands in your pocket ". He was always busy with a project or 2 or 3. He touched many. He never backed away from a challenge and always left people wanting more. His legacy lives on through his family and all who knew him. His music plays on in all of us. His passing leaves us sad but his memories warm us. Rest in peace Dad. Till we meet again.

Gordon has played for many 'special' Masses and celebrations for the Anglican Catholic Church of Canada, and the Traditional Anglican Church of Canada in BC and has proved a great encouragement to us all in adding the beauty of music so very well-played to the wonderful liturgy of the Book of Common Prayer and our traditional worship at St. Bride of Kildare, Pitt Meadows. He will be sorely missed, and we pray the he might rest in peace, and rise in glory. Fr. David Marriott+

So many memories of Gordon during his five years with us as organist and music director at St. Andrew's Anglican Church Langley. He made the congregations sing like no other. A true elder in church music.

The McCracken Family have held Gordon in very high since we came to Vancouver.  Our thoughts are with both the Atkinson Family and with the Saints Community on the passing of a wonderful example for all of us.  A respected and devoted educator to be remembered

Dear Mrs Atkinson and Family,
We are so very sorry to hear of Gordon's death. I met him when I was quite young, shortly after he came to Canada, when he was for a time organist and choirmaster at St. James Church, Vancouver. My father, the late Reverend Dennis Elsted, became a friend of his as he sometimes assisted at St. James and was also a musician, and I remember Gordon as a very kind man who was happy to spend time talking to a rather shy young teenager. As I graduated from St. George's in 1964, I never knew Gordon as a Headmaster or teacher, but when I spoke to him occasionally I always thought it would be a fine thing to know him better. Unfortunately, life took us into separate paths. He was a fine, sympathetic, and wise man, and he will be deeply missed. Jan and I send you our deepest condolences, and will hold you in our thoughts.
