

November 4, 2023, at Abbotsford Regional Hospital in Abbotsford, B.C. after a brief with pneumonia and
influenza A.
She was born on July 14th in Comox, B.C.. Heather travelled a lot overseas as a young child, as her father was in the Air Force, but she finished high school in Courtenay, B.C.. Heather attended Simon Fraser
University in Burnaby B.C. for two years before getting married and having children. She became a passionate advocate for autism and special needs, after her daughter Karen was finally diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome after years without a diagnosis. In many ways, Heather was a trailblazer for inclusion before it became a recognized term. After living a short while in Alberta, Heather lived throughout the Lower Mainland before eventually settling in Chilliwack, B.C..
Heather is predeceased by her beloved father Thomas John, in 1991.
She is survived by her partner Larry, mother Elizabeth Rose (96), younger brother David, two children, Graham and Karen, and grandchildren Olivia and Noah.
