Henry John Esau

Henry John Esau went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on December 25, 2023 at the age

of 91.

Henry was born on July 8, 1932 in Readymade, Alberta. He accepted Jesus as his Saviour at

an early age. At the age of 12, he moved to Rosedale, BC.

In 1955, he married Elizabeth Riediger, and they moved to Winnipeg where he studied at

MBBC.

In 1958, they moved to Waterloo Ontario where he got his teaching degree. They had 3

children and established roots in Ontario, where he taught at Eden Christian College, Kitchener

Collegiate, and Bluevale Collegiate. Beginning in 1969, he started a camping ministry and was

Director of Camp Crossroads, and later Columbia Bible Camp (Stillwood). His ministries

included Youth Leader and Choir Conductor. He also began a tour company with his wife,

Elizabeth. They took many groups to various places throughout North America, and abroad. He

continued on as a bus driver for Trailways until 2013. At that time, Elizabeth passed away, and

the following year he married Linda Neufeld. They had a wonderful marriage for over 9 years,

and shared many memorable experiences together. He enjoyed fishing, picking fruit,

gardening, singing in a quartet, and working with the Gideons.

Henry had a big heart for lost souls, for children and underprivileged people. He was an

advocate for people experiencing injustice. He was a man of strong faith, and lived it out in

practical ways.

Henry is lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda; his children, Gerald, Melody (Ernie), Barry

(Donna); grandchildren, Justin (Annie), Nicola, and Dayna; and great grandchildren, Freya and

Walter. He is also remembered by brothers Jake (Helen) and Walter (Lenora). He is also lovingly

remembered by the Neufeld family. Henry was predeceased by 4 brothers and one sister. A

heartfelt thanks to Linda who cared for him right until the end.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Chilliwack Alliance Church on Friday, January 26th

at 1:30 pm.
