Herman was born in Milk River, AB, and later the family moved to Brooks AB,
where he and his family worked hard to support the household. Herman left Brooks at the young age of 16 and came to BC to live with his sister Elsie in Nanaimo, where he worked for Pacific Produce.
At the age of 20, Herman met the love of his life Lyda, at the neighbouring hardware store.
Herman and Lyda married September 10, 1955 in Nanaimo, BC
He then started his family and career in Road Construction with the Department of Highways, where he continued and worked up to Superintendent. Never missing a day of work.
He then went into Caretaking and took great pride in this career until he retired in 2003 in Qualicum Beach, BC.
He then moved to the Fraser Valley to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
Herman was the most loyal, proud and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Loved his family more than anything. He was a wonderful storyteller, entertainer, he just wanted to make everyone laugh, and he surely succeeded at that.
Herman loved the outdoors, hunting in particular. No buck could go unnoticed, actively hunting or not.
There are not enough words to describe how impactful he was in all of our lives.
To you now on the moon, watching over us. Shine bright upon us.
We love you forever, rest easy now.
In lieu of flowers.
