I remember Uncle Herman and Auntie Martha and I walking the halls of John Calvin School and doing janitor work after school and uncle Herman giving me scotch mints. He always gave me candies. Also, I remember his care and love for me and also always wanting to know how I was doing.

The grief is tremendous and he will be greatly missed. Uncle  Herman will 
never be forgotten. Forever in my heart. 

Great Uncle Herman is a splitting image of his brother (My Opa Kobes). He brought back  many memories  of my Opa who passed in 2006. When I met Herman he had a huge smile on his face and, we talked many things about his younger days, and I gather he was quite happy to meet a grandchild from one of his brothers. I sat next to him in church and it was like I was sitting right next to my Opa. I met great Uncle Herman very briefly, and he had a fun, happy  very confident demeanor. He will be great missed by all.

I have so many great memories of visiting at the Kobes’s , especially on Sundays when Barb and I were kids.  Mrs Kobes would ask questions about how school was going and often ask us girls to sing a song or two, while Mr Kobes would quietly sit and listen to us with a little smile on his face.    Mr Kobes was a quiet, gentle man.  Sending sincere sympathy to Mrs Kobes, Barb, and the entire Kobes family.   May God comfort you all.

We have always loved the hearty, loving nature of Mr. and Mrs. Kobes when they visited family in Barrhead. We are so sorry for the loss of your husband, father, and grandfather and know he will leave an empty spot in your lives❤️. 

Herman, together with Martha welcomed me when I first joined the Yarrow Canadian Reformed Church and started working at John Calvin Christian School. Herman had his own quiet way of doing things and showing his care and concern which I really appreciated.  Back in my early days of working at JCCS, Herman would join the staff after school for a round or two of floor hockey before taking up the vaccumn cleaner to spotlessly clean the classrooms. I also enjoyed the visits Anthony and I had with Herman and Martha when they moved to their apartment in Chilliwack.  We pray that God our heavenly Father will surround the whole Kobes family with his comfort and strength - especially in the coming days. ❤️ Mary-Ann and Anthony, Lorien and Perrin Vandergugten
