Jennifer Mavis McDonnell

Jenny married Brian J. McDonnell on March 26, 1960 In Birkenhead England. They celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary in 2024. They had three beautiful daughters, Chriss-Ann, Janis and Carol in England. They immigrated to Canada in 1960 and they adopted their son Douglas in 1969 in Saskatoon, Sask.

Jennifer worked at the Bay for many years. Brian and Jenny then moved on to owning their own business in Lagana Hotel in Lanigan,SK and Nokomis Hotel and Jenny’s Restaurant in Nokomis. After retiring in the hotel business Jenny and Brian moved to Shaunavon, Sk and Jenny worked at the Shaunavon Hospital and Care Centre.

Better weather called to Jenny and Brian and in 2016 they moved to Cottonwood Estates in Chilliwack, BC. Jenny loved to organize potluck suppers, bingo and special days at Cottonwood.

Jenny especially enjoyed curling, knitting and watching tennis on TV.

She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially loved to hear about all their travels, endeavors and accomplishments.

Remaining to cherish Jenny’s memories is her spouse, Brian McDonnell; children, Janis (Joe), Carol and Doug; grandchildren, Shauna, Michelle (Curtis), Jay, (Amanda) Jordie (Naomi) , Andrew (Tara), Dylan and Emily (Zac) ; great-grandchildren, Madison, Clayton, Jacob and Olive

Jennifer is predeceased by her daughter Chriss-Ann Hunter, son in laws, Ted Hunter and Jack Gruending.

At Jennifer’s request no Funeral/Memorial service will be scheduled. We encourage everyone to celebrate her life on Jenny’s birthday, Sept 24, 2024.

Memorial donations in Jennifer’s memory may be directed to BC Breast Cancer Society, BC Colon Cancer Society and/or MS Society.
