Joan Helen Carey

Joan was born February 14, 1936 in North Vancouver, BC moving to Chilliwack at a young age. She married Raymond Carey on June 26, 1953 and remained married for almost 60 years until the time of his passing. Together they had 5 children, 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband. Raymond Carey, her son Alan Carey and her brother Robert shaw.

Joan stayed at home for many years to raise their five children. Later, she decided to try her hand at driving a Jeep for a local Hop Yard for a couple of seasons. She enjoyed working outside of the home briefly, and provided family and friends with many entertaining stories. Over the years she dabbled in many hobbies, knitting, cermaics and toll painting to name a few. One activity she enjoyed the most, along with her family, was 5 pin league and tournament bowling in Chilliwack where they were very involved and made many friends over the years.

The family extends their gratitude to the staff at Tabor Home in Abbotsford for their compassionate care where mom resided for the last 3 years of her life.

A memorial service will be planned for a later date.
