Dear Henrietta and family, 
 Words fall short in expressing our feelings. We will always remember our friend John as an optimistic, happy Christian. His enthusiasm and boldness in witnessing for Christ wherever he went was exemplary. May the Lord strengthen you and keep you close to His side. May you all be comforted with the words of 'What a friend we have in Jesus', which, we believe, was one of John's favorite hymns.

dear Van Woerden Family,
News travels quickly and so we have heard of your loss!  We did know John was ill and often prayed for you all.  we met only once back in 2005 when traveling with Barbara and Bill Tanis and visited your church.  you welcomed us into your lovely home after eve services and we have never forgotten how both you, Henrietta and John showed in your demeanor that Jesus lived in your hearts.
I email with Sandra Stam as a result of meeting her that day and she has nothing but GOOD to say about John's testimony...
Words really fail us right now to express how you both impressed us and we mourn with you, but not as those who have no hope for we know and believe John is in a better place.

John was a special man; he had the special gift of exuding Christian Joy, especially in song.  He will be missed by  his friends and church family.

Dear Henrietta and family:  My sincere condolences to you all.  As I spoke yet with John at Harrison Lake just at the beginning of this month: "Here we have no continuing city, but we seek one to come." (Heb. 13:14).  John's eyes and heart were directed to Philippians 1:23 "I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:" May your eyes then also be to that desire, as the Lord Jesus expressed it in His High Priestly prayer: "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."  With you eyes fixed on Him, the path ahead will still be hard but you will not be alone.  That is my sincere wish for each of you!

My Condolenses to Auntie Heda and each and every one of you. I wish I could make it to the funeral but being overseas for my mission I won't beable too. Uncle John was a true example of a man who loved God's word and someone who was eager to share it with everyone who would hear him. I celebrate the legacy that will continue to grow from the life he lived. I loved him very much, he was a man of honor and one that truly loved his God and his family. I'm praying for God's strength and grace to rise up underneath you like eagles wings.
