Joseph Michael Porter passed away on March 9, 2024 at the age of 38. He is lovingly remembered by his parents Dave and Cathy Porter; brother Tom (Belinda); sister Carolynn (Braden); Niece Linnea; nephew Soren as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Joe came into our world on January 17, 1986…. 17 days after his due date. We called it stage fright, which he soon overcame! When he was in elementary school he took up the saxophone then guitar…..garage band. Joe’s family all did karate and both Joe and Tom received their first-degree black belts. Later in life, Joe was in a band called “These Kids Wear Crowns”. This was an amazing time in Joe’s life. It lead to being featured on the Much Music Show called Disband to travelling to countries such as Australia and Singapore just to name a few. Joe, Josh, Alex, Alan, Matt, Josh (aka Gypsy) would travel in a van across the country and they were a fantastic group of friends. They recorded multiple albums and were featured on TV and radio stations. Joe and Myself (Joe’s mom) did the Tough Mudder and Spartan races together. We as a family would do the Grouse Grind every year on Father’s Day. Joe always had to win. He has always been interested in fitness. He competed in body building competitions, received his fitness Instructor certificate, and then ultimately fulfilled his dream of opening his own gym Pumphouse Fitness Inc. Joe loved his dogs Rona, Hank and Goliath and they were all mascots of Pumphouse. When Joe got Hank, he destroyed most of Joe’s furniture and some of ours …. (funny, not funny) The dogs are now being cared for and loved by Jay (please support him in any way you can) At the gym Joe went on to coach, train and encourage many to reach their goals and he would want all of you to continue to reach yours. He created such and incredible and encouraging community. Joe also loved spending time with his family especially with his niece Linnea and nephew Soren. Some of Joe’s other loves was that of the outdoors, ocean, camping, 4x4ing, rifle range with his dad, snowboarding and his family and friends. We have so many amazing memories and he will be forever in our hearts and forever loved.
