July 7, 1924 ~ December 31, 2021
Margaret was born in Wolsley, Saskatchewan to Martha and William Clare. Her father was the town constable. Her and her older brother Bill moved out to BC when Margaret was 16 years old. She was employed at the Chilliwack General hospital until she married Albert Strohmaier in 1946, and they farmed on Fairfield Island, and had 3 sons. When the farm was sold for development, Margaret got to name one of the streets, hence Clare Avenue. They then moved to the farm on Hope River Road. Albert passed away in 1978 and Margaret eventually sold the farm and moved to a condo on Broadway.
She kept herself very busy, she loved to travel and went to various places in Europe, UK, Australia, USA and Canada. She did a lot of crafts including ceramics, knitting, crocheting, and always had a large garden and lots of flowers. She was a great cook and baker and enjoyed hosting family dinners. She loved to walk and would easily do 10-15 km every day. She also volunteered at the blood donation clinics that they use to hold on a regular basis.
As her health declined she lived for a few years at Birchwood, and finally at Valleyhaven where she passed away.
She is predeceased by her parents, two sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her sons Alvin (Mary), Wilf (Pat), Edward (Donna), and two grandchildren Kevin and Tara.
