Marilyn Gwendolyn Moffitt

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gwen Moffitt, our Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother, in her 89th year on June 1st, 2022.

Gwen was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and then went on to raise her own family in London, Gravenhurst & Lindsay Ontario, prior to retiring and passing in Chilliwack, BC.

She will be deeply missed by her daughter Lesley, and sons David, Bradley and Stephen. In addition to her many Grandchildren Emily, Lauren, Margaret, Helena, Jeremy, Jillian and Ben. And her Great-grandchildren, Liam, Lilah, Sadie, Kolby, Michaela, Madison, Rylan, Kip and Nettle. Along with her many cherished friends.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of nearly forty years, John Moffitt. And her parents Ivadale (Ivy) & Archibald (Archie) Merkley, and her siblings Edward, Shirley, Georgina, Glenda, Brian, Jean and Patricia.

Gwen had great enthusiasm for all her life endeavours. Prior to starting her family with John, she was an accomplished seamstress (and life-long knitter), a runway model for a brief period, and a banking representative. She volunteered throughout her life in many capacities, from youth organization leadership, to the Hospital Service League in her later years. She was an avid gardener and 'gamer'. She thoroughly enjoyed her curling, bridge, scrabble, cribbage, and Yahtzee! She was also a devote Christian (Protestant); her Bible was always open, and well ear-marked.

In honour of our Mother’s request, services will not be held at this time. Her immediate family will be having a Celebration of Life on the shores of Lake Erie, Ontario later this year. At a location that held many happy memories for Mom and our family. Thank-you sincerely for sharing in our sorrow. Our family truly appreciates all good wishes and sentiments.
