Auntie , Auntie , Auntie..  wishing we could get together today … so miss you ..  I had a quick chuckle over the time you called me in the bar and told me that me and my cohort Janice better get our  buttdinski’s in gear, get home or you would be locking us out!  Yup !  Looked at one another and agreed to just one more for the road home.  😂  oh did we have laughs that nite once we arrived.  I soooo   miss  our chats and get togethers. ❤️never forgotten honey!

It was to my sadness last night I found out my sister had passed away. My greatest memory of Mervin that was in 1993 when our father was dedicated to building at Camp Borden and it was such an awesome time to get to know her. If there are any family members out there that want to reach out to me and talk to me please do I am very sorry for all our sadness and it was a great loss my sister Mervina.❤️❤️❤️ Dave Carson 

Its been just over a year and want to let you know that you are sooooo missed .  I absolutely am missing our phone calls.  Still every week that passes, I need to pause and remind myself that things are not the same anymore and that makes me sad.  How I took it for granted, that you would always be there for me. You always were. 
However, I still want to check in with you and so I will , just a little differently from now on... Not sure if I told you that I planted a beautiful  young lilac last summer in your honor. I cant wait to see it bloom this year and see how much it will grow.

A year.....so much can happen in a year....a year without you has been hard.  You became my mom, my friend, my advisor, and above all a cherished aunty.  I remember you arriving back home in 1986.  My mom was so happy.  I was still in Alberta, but as soon as I got back to B.C. you and Aunty Rita were all over the boys because you missed your grandkids so much.  I watched the Vikings the other night.  I can still hear your voice when we talked the next day.  We would always joke about our potty  mouths.  Aunty  Mervina wasn't afraid to say what she thought.   I can still hear her voice saying "Hi sweetie".  I miss that so much.  I will continue to make sure you are honoured aunty. 

I'll miss being able to talk to Mervina whenever her & my mom got together on the phone. My mom had been sick so we hadn't  talked in months. She was one of the sweetest friends my mother had, just hearing her was an uplifting joy... and she always had the most loving words for everyone. 
I'll miss you and just hearing your voice too Mervina...with love always.

We didn't talk often enough and hearing of your passing just a few days ago hurt my heart. Just one more hug is all I could ever ask for. Elegant, funny, gentle, tender, and warm. I will never forget how you taught me how important it was to take care of my feet. I will never forget my visit when you and Gordie were so good to me and it tickled you pink when he got so excited to show me his truck because I actually knew what was talking about. See you, Mom and the Sandman on the other side some day. 

Thinking  of Mervina and one of her shows she liked and it was the Viking shows. I miss her so much and I still go for the phone and I catch myself. I sent her a drawing ✍️ in one of those large envelopes  telling her this is some of the things I do I had a drawing ✍️ on the large envelope and inside I think I put a few drawings and she liked one she said it looked like Katy Perry any how she said the picture was pretty and she was going to get a frame 🖼 for it to hang on the wall. If anyone left me anything I can’t get to it don’t know my password  I met to say messages

I enjoyed living next door to you and all the times you put my hair in curlers. We loved going to all the thrift stores together and coming home with our wonderful finds. I love you and miss you Mervina!  Xoxo

Our Beloved Mervina was my mother Dolores Durst's cousin. But I thought of her as Aunt Mervina. 
That one of a kind, everlasting impression maker, with each and every visit over my lifetime. Unforgettable in  every way.
Her presence, charismatic beyond measure. Her smile, laugh and voice, no matter what the tone, or  topic of conversation, captivating. Her wisdom, compassion and kindness, ever present.
Merv's  zest for life, love and laughter will be the treasures, motivation and inspiration, for the rest of my days. As I can only hope to imagine myself,  becoming  even a fraction of the Woman, Matriarch and Marvel that Mervina was, to all that had the honour, privilege, and blessings of  knowing her.

Mervina, my cousin, my dear friend and my trusted confident - I will miss you.
We never met until 1954 when we were both teenagers, and not again until 1987.  After that we saw each other whenever I was in B.C. and communicated off and on.  Somewhere around 2000, the geneology bug hit us and we were off to the races.  We have searched the Internet and archives from Saskatchewan to Scotland - walked through countless graveyards and churches from the highlands to the Hebrides.  Along the way we acquired a taste for Scotch whisky -but not for haggis.  We saw a lot of beautiful places and met a lot of really nice people, some of them were related to us and all went out of their way to help us, and we often needed the help.  There were a lot of missteps and a lot of laughs.  We hit every Thrift Store along the way - another "family tradition".

There was never a time when in Mervinas company you were not happy to be with her.
She was always upbeat, friendly and getting the best out of life.

We all love her and will never forget her until we meet her again. 
She will take us dancing or to karioki to sing and enjoy yourselves.

Let us raise our glasses and toast Mervina for sharing a part of her life force with us.

I look forward to meeting up with you Merv in your new home in heaven where will dance the night away.

We had the privilege of meeting Mervina and Gord thru Ancestry about 10 years ago. Joe was a 2nd cousin to Mervina thru Pearl Carson in MB  and we were able to share so many memories and family stories and pictures. What a host, she was and we so enjoyed our visits with them. She was always finding more stories and old photo's to show us. We had one visit with Mervina later after the passing of Gord and we feel so very blessed to have known her.  She was a great historian and had a wealth of family information. We will miss her and exchanging stories and always, our jokes. Take care, Mervina.

My dear sweet Auntie.  I am saddened beyond belief at your passing.   I have stopped myself from wanting to call you back so many times. I was sadden to read this news . Mervina  and I have been friends since the 
70s . She worked with me and my son at my business in San Diego ( Beefmasters)  I was so fortunate to call her friend . Because we both being 
Irish shared so many great memories !  Merv and my son Mark would always celebrate  St Patrick’s Day  n the pubs in San Diego .
We never lost touch and in 2003  I  lost my Son in May and my husband was in bad health at the time . Merv and Gordie  on one of their trips to the states. came to visit  us in North Carolina  that was the last time I saw her .
We shred so many good times and  through the years we shared  our funny emails . . Not long after her visit in Charlotte my husband passed away as well .
My Son loved her so much and they had such good times together.
She  was so  sad at Marks passing .
I remember her trips Arizona. and when she made the decision to move back to BC it was heartbreaking. time for me and Mark but we  understood why she had to go .
To the family , your loss is heartbreaking, . to the children you had a outstanding Mother and I was so blessed to cal her friend.
So much fun always upbeat and always ready to dance a jig .
Her memory will remain with me always . With a sad  heart  I wish all of you

Strong, Dignified, Courageous, Honest, Fair, and Loving only begins to describe who my mother was to me! She was the one who’s love never wavered! I loved listening to the stories of her childhood and marveled at her recall of details. She was always the voice of reason when my life seemed chaotic and out of control. She taught me to respect and protect women.
