Raymond Julian Gonzales

1941 – 2018

Raymond Julian Gonzales, born December 30, 1941, passed

away peacefully January 26, 2018 at his home in Chilliwack

BC. He is survived by his loving wife Pamela of 50 years;

sister Rita (Sandy) Cline of Ontario; nephew Brian (Sharon)

Cline of Florida; niece Michelle (Thomas) Wallace of Ontario;

sister-in-law Muriel Emsley of England. Ray had many

cousins, Linda (John) Stewart of Nanaimo, Ron (Kathy) Read

of Agassiz, Carol (Gary) Marquette of Kelowna; as well as

dear friends Beverley (David) Nadin of Chilliwack and Dale

Wanek of North Vancouver. Ray was predeceased by his parents Mr. & Mrs. Alfred

Britania Rodriques of Vancouver, BC.

Ray grew up in Niagara Falls and went to school there. He worked in an Iron Foundry

there and then joined the Royal Canadian Navy in Nova Scotia until 1967. He then

became an employee of BC Forest Products as a logger in Franklin River, Port Alberni

and Pitt River. Ray also worked as a roofer at which time he suffered a serious accident

and thus retired in 1983. Ray was also a member of the Army and Navy Club in North

Vancouver.

Ray and Pam met in North Vancouver and they were married in 1968. It was love at

first sight and they had many wonderful years together living in North Vancouver. In

2001 they decided to move to Chilliwack and had many happy times there as well.

Ray was a very knowledgeable man and loved to read about many subjects. He also

loved to cook. He was an exceptional cook and provided Pam with some excellent

dishes. Ray also loved to talk with people on many a good subject right up to the end.

He will be sadly missed by all. We would like to thank Dr. David Fitzpatrick and Fran

for their kind attention, and also the BC Paramedics, CGH, and his caregivers from

Fraser Valley Health for their kindness to Ray in his latter years.

Ray’s wishes were that there would be no Memorial Service or floral donations of

any kind. Any donations in his memory can go to a charity of your choice. Thank you.
