She was born in Saskatchewan, the youngest of 8, but spent her life living in Chilliwack and the surrounding area.
Sally and Lloyd married in 1952. After staying home while the children were young, she started working part time as a bookkeeper and eventually worked full time at the Rempel, Kaye & Toews law firm until retirement.
Throughout her life, Sally loved to learn new things – macrame, Chinese cooking, pottery and calligraphy to name just a few. She also attended Elder College for many years. Her major passions were gardening, baking and reading.
She loved traveling. Summers were spent at the property on Thetis Island and after retirement, she and Lloyd spent winters in Indio, California as well as enjoying trips to Hawaii, several cruises and many adventures in their 5th wheel. She traveled to England and Ireland after Lloyd passed away in 2009.
She was an active member at Carman United Church where she made many friends.
One of the highlights of her life was climbing Mt. Cheam – ‘her’ mountain – when she was 70 years old.
Sally loved her family and leaves behind her son, Tom; daughter, Jane; granddaughter, Jayme (Dustin) and great grandchildren, Foster and Lily as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Glenwood Seniors Home in Agassiz for the wonderful care they gave Sally these last few years. Their love and compassion were greatly appreciated.
A private family gathering will be held this spring to celebrate this kind, loving, funny, wonderful woman.
