Scott Nelson Gowen

Scott Nelson Gowen was born at Chilliwack General Hospital on June 22nd, 1954 to parents Charles and Geraldine Gowen. The youngest of three brothers, he was proud of having grown up in Chilliwack and participating in community theatre. The owner of a kindly, social, and inquisitive spirit, Scott went on to enjoy a life filled with family, friends, and travel. He retired from Kwantlen Polytechnic University in 2014 as Director, Supply and Business Services. He lived much of his life at Cultus Lake, where he was a gracious and good-humoured host to many. He was an integral and beloved member of many families.

Scott passed away peacefully on December 23rd, 2025 at Chilliwack General Hospital after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his elder brothers, Paul and Brent Abernethy, his niece Lauren Abernethy, and nephews Joram, Joe, and Graeme Abernethy. He shares his thanks to the doctors and nurses at Surrey Memorial and Chilliwack General Hospitals.

A memorial service will be held at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, located at 45865 Hocking Avenue, Chilliwack, BC, V2P1B5, Canada. The service is scheduled for March 14, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A reception will follow starting at 2:00 pm.
