OBITUARY

Shirley Dawn Cross

September 7, 1936February 12, 2021

It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of Shirley Dawn. Shirley will be greatly missed by her husband Everett of 66 years. Her Son Brad (Sandy) Grandchildren Steve(Tara) Laura (Andrew) and Lyndsay(Kinew) and Great Grandchildren Emma, Julia, Ty, Wyatt and Tate.

Shirley and Everett moved to Chilliwack with their young family from Vancouver in 1960. She was the bookkeeper for their family plumbing business along with other offices over the years. Shirley volunteered her time within her church and other groups over the years with the love of helping others. One of her passions was sewing, especially for her grandchildren. She loved to travel, whether to a fishing lake, Yuma or Hawaii. She was also a trophy winning quick draw competitor. Her greatest joys in her life was spending special times with her grandchildren and great children. Grandma was at every activity/concert and family milestone! She was loved by all and touched many hearts.

A private family celebration of life will be held in the future. We would like to thank everyone at Cascade lodge for the exceptional care of our “energizer bunny” over the years.

So loved our visits with Aunt Shirley and Uncle Everett when we were kids. Have been away from Chilliwack for so long lost touch but family has kept me posted.
Missed your big smile and happy heart.

What a great picture of Shirley! When Everett & Shirley moved to Chilliwack they moved into a house across the street so we were neighbours as well as becoming friends. Shirley and I would have coffee together as our "little ones" played. She was so proud of Brad and Wade.

Everett came to work with our plumbing company and was with us for many years, eventually leaving to start his own Company.

Of course we were all active in the church so enjoyed many times together.

Our condolences to Everett, Brad, Sandy and their family. It is never easy to loose a loved one but you will have many memories to keep Shirley close in your heart! She was a good lady!!!!

Shirley and Everett had a large influence on my teen years. They were our youth group leaders. They also lived very close to us and their door was always open.
I remember Shirley saving for a dishwasher! She was delighted when she got it. Shirley also collected Salt Cellars and I always admired her collection.
Shirley showed me how to make a lovely tablecloth out of gingham fabric that was enhanced with cross-stitch. She gave these tablecloths as gifts many time.
My condolences to Everett, Brad, Sandy and family!

Our prayers are with your family. Shirley was such a caring and loving grandma. Both her and Everett welcomed Katie on numerous occasions. There trip to the Calgary Stampede was a highlight for Katie. She has found memories of eating breakfast at A&W.

I have wonderful memories of the times Kevin and I shared with Shirley and Everett at our church and in their home. I especially remember the time Shirley and I travelled to our church World Conference in Independence, Missouri. We had a great time together. Sad that I lost touch with her in the last few years. I feel blessed to have had her in my life and knowing she is now with our God. Blessings to Everett and the family. 🙏🏻💕

I remember Shirley & Everett very well as a lovely couple, very friendly and inviting when I first came into the Chilliwack Community of Christ Christ in the early 1970's. Her smile was large and made others smile along with her.
She is ever with us.
