Born in England - April 1, 1919 Died in Chilliwack BC – September 28, 2013 Mom came to Canada at the age of 9 in 1928 with her parents Will & Flo Craven and siblings, Alex & Frances. After 1 year in Agassiz the family came to Chilliwack. As a teenager she worked as housekeeper for several local seniors and then went to work at the Royal Hotel. In 1942 she married Samuel Perry Dickinson and they had 2 daughters, Frances Lynne and Sandra Leslie. In the mid 1950’s while living at 11W Victoria Ave and then at 111 W Victoria Ave Violet opened her home twice a week for the “Chat-A Way” Club. This club went on to become the Chilliwack Senior Recreation Center now at the corner of Victoria and College, half block from their origin. Violet’s home was always open for Lynne and Sandra’s friends and was a home away from home for Lynne’s many military friends and many in the Dutch community as well. After the move to 111 W Victoria Ave, Violet rented the upstairs bedrooms and the family formed many lasting friendships including several in the Greek community. In her 70’s Violet volunteered at the “Stroke Club” and the kitchen of the Senior Recreation Center. Despite failing eyesight in her 80’s she continued to maintain her home with the help of her daughter and granddaughter. In her 90’s her health started to fail but she was still in her home with her daughter and enjoyed her great granddaughter who was born in March 2013. She was predeceased by her parents and in-laws and her sister, her daughter Sandra in 1974 and her husband Perry in 1990. She is survived by her brother Alex, her sister-in-law Lois, her daughter Lynne, her granddaughter Vicki (Frank) and her great granddaughter Trinity Sage, foster son Barry, nieces, nephews and their families.
