Dad was born July 3, 1931 in Nelson BC, the oldest of 3 boys. At a young age his family moved to Vancouver, then to New Westminster where he finished school and went on to work at Royal City Cannery. It was at this time he met & married Betty and together they had 4 children.
Dad was born with a love for boating, both as a commercial fisherman with his brothers and his job driving the dozer & tug boats for Fraser River Log Sorting on the Fraser River. Continuing his education at night, dad eventually went off to BCIT to become to journeyman electrician which became his career when he moved his family to the interior of BC, and eventually an Electrical Inspector in both Williams Lake and Chilliwack for 20 years before retiring.
Retirement for dad meant more time for boating, and he moved to Harrison Hot Springs. Dad was an active member and past commander of Harrison Yacht Club for 30 years. Dad enjoyed volunteering and was active in Coast Guard Auxiliary, Fraser Valley Power Squadron, Ancient Mariners, The Fraser Valley Boating Safety Society, Masons to name a few.
Family was very important to dad and he rarely missed a “family gathering” often spearheading them himself. Dad leaves behind his son Jim, Jessica, Kimberly, Matt (Tessa), daughter Gail (Perry) Harmony and Shawn (Tonja), daughter Shirley (Ron) and daughter Joanne (Mike) Clintyn (Deanna), Darren, Shannon. He also has 5 great grandchildren, Zachery, Serena, Sarah, Caleb & Molly.
