SCHOLZ Wolfgang Peter August 2, 1946 – July 14, 2012

Wolfgang Peter Scholz passed away peacefully at the age of 65 surrounded by his loving family on July 14, 2012 at Cascade Hospice after a short battle with cancer. Wolfgang was born August 2, 1946 in Salzgitter-Gebhardshagen, Germany and with his parents and brother came to Canada in 1953. The family lived in the Kootneys where his father worked in the mines and then moved to Yarrow, BC. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Judy of 46 years; his three daughters, Cindy Lyftogt, Rebecca (Kelly) Heibner and Vicky (Kevin) Heibner; grandchildren Liam Biggs, Loren, Ethan & Kaitlyn Lyftogt, Sydney & Jaden Heibner, Korissa, Karaline, Kole, Koralee Heibner and great granddaughter Peyton Biggs. He was predeceased by his parents Paul and Anna Scholz, sister Rosel Nemethy, brother Rudy Scholz and brother-in-law Tibor Nemethy. Over the years, Wolfgang worked at Rosedale Machine Shop, Chilliwack Cablevision and BC Corrections (D.A.S.H. Program). For the past 23 years he was the owner and operator of Son’s of Thunder Motorcycle Shop. Building and repairing motorcycles was something he excelled at, particularly the old Harleys. His community involvements included Boy Scouts, Chilliwack Search & Rescue, and 35 years as an RCMP Auxiliary Police Officer. He loved the outdoors and climbed all the local mountain peaks, rock climbing, canoeing and camping, was a member of the Fraser Valley Frontiersmen Blackpowder Club and past director of Chilliwack Fish & Game Association. He was a re-enactor at Ft. Langley Historic Park on Fur Brigade weekends and also belonged to the Washington State Civil War Association. Wolfgang regularly attended the Chilliwack Alliance Church and helped run the spot lights for Christmas productions. The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Graham, Palliative Care Nurses and staff at the Cascade Hospice for their kind care and support. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 24 at 1:00 pm at Chilliwack Alliance Church, 8700 Young Road, Chilliwack. Well Wolf, Its been almost a year now since you've been gone. I miss stopping by the shop to see your smiling face. Very few people a man meets during his lifetime have as much of a positive effect as you did. You always had time to help and it made no difference if you were not going to make any money on it. You lived by the old code of helping a bro in need. You were always honest and more than fair in your business dealings. You took pride in your work that showed in the machines you built and the parts you fabricated. You had a very admirable set of ethics and morals that you lived by. Some people talk it but you lived it. Over the 15 yrs or so that we knew each other I came to admire your many positive qualities.
I also came to think of you as a very good friend. Then after a lifetime of doing good and living right you were suddenly gone, just as you were about to settle in to enjoy your family and the fruits of your labor. I thought how unfair this is! Then it dawned on me that you no longer have struggle or hardship or pain. Your fight is won, you truly are reaping the harvest of your labor. So I guess it isnt so unfair after all. You are truly riding free now. I imagine that you and Hairy Gerry Hendricks are hanging out and riding just like you did here. It is us that you left behind who have struggle and pain to contend with. I just want to say Wolf, thank you for being the man and the inspiration you were. Thank you for being the friend you were. You were one I truly appreciated and enjoyed getting to know. Take care my friend and ride free. Oh, and say hello to Hairy for me.

I met Wolfgang for the 1st time about 4 yrs ago when i bought my first chopper. Since this time, i've completely rebuilt this bike & bought almost all my parts through him.
During my rebuild, i had MANY questions & it got to the point because i phoned so often, that Wolf recognized my voice as soon as i said hello.
He was a fountain of information, not only with bikes, but also with life in general & took time out of his day to help me, as i know he did with anyone who needed.
You are sadly missed!!!
Hope to see you on the other side:)
