Anita Gail Rutledge

Ms. Anita Gail Rutledge, age 77 of Landis, peacefully passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Atrium Health – Cabarrus where she was welcomed into to the arms of Jesus. Born April 19, 1944 in Iredell County, Anita was the only daughter of the late Herman Leon Rutledge and Delsia Victoria Steel Rutledge. She was a longtime member of Landis Baptist Church.

Anita spent her life devoted to helping others. At Landis Baptist Church, she sang in the choir, kept the nursery and participated in children’s church (she loved children), was a member of the Ray Horn Circle, and was president of her Friendly Sunday School Class. Her church and her church family were her world. She took it upon herself to keep addressed and ready to mail, birthday and anniversary cards for an entire year at a time for her church family – what a blessing to those on the receiving end…

Those left to cherish her memory are her special “adopted” family, the Sechler family – all of whom were very special and close to Anita. She also leaves behind her special cousins and her very special church family, whom all loved her dearly. The special “church ladies” who took her for doctor’s appointments, out to lunch and were such amazing and caring friends for her…they all will miss her dearly.

Visitation for Anita will be on Saturday, July 17, 2021 from 1:00 – 2:00pm at Landis Baptist Church. Funeral Service will follow at 2:00pm officiated by Pastor Mike Austin and Rev. Eddie Graham. Graveside Service will immediately follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. Please kindly remember Anita with memorials in her honor to Landis Baptist Church, 110 N.
