

23, 2013, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.Born Dec. 22, 1930, in Warrenton, she was the daughter
of the late John Weldon and Margaret Mills Mayfield. Growing up in Warrenton, Ann graduated from John Graham High School
and then attended Peace College in Raleigh.In 1952, Ann married Alfred Merle Harrington of Warren County. Following
their marriage, they lived in Melbourne, Fla., Durham, China Grove and Salisbury.While living in China Grove, Ann volunteered
with the Meals on Wheels program. In 1957, Ann joined First United Methodist Church in China Grove,
where she was a den mother for several years while her boys were young. She was also a member of the choir,
directed the junior choir, member of the administrative board and the parsonage committee.
Ann enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to clubs in Salisbury and China Grove. A member of the Salisbury
Country Club, she enjoyed playing golf and had been the club champion in the Edgar Welch and Betty Scott
Memorial tournaments. Ann was also a member of Elizabeth Maxwell Steele Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, where she held many chairmanships, was chapter Regent at one time and was NCDAR Vice-Director of District IV.
A devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, Ann will be greatly missed by all of her family and many,
many friends and acquaintances.
Family members left to cherish Ann’s memory include her husband of 62 years, Merle Harrington; her two much
loved sons and their wives, Scott M. Harrington (Wanda) and David M. Harrington (Lynn); her three grandchildren,
Bess, Ben and Elizabeth Harrington.
Visitation and Service: The family will receive friends Sunday, Oct. 27 from 1-2 p.m. in the Fellowship Building of
First United Methodist Church in China Grove. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. in the church conducted by the
Rev. George Yates, pastor. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum of West Lawn Memorial Park.
