Arnie Ruth Reid

Mrs. Arnie Ruth Reid, age 85 of Salisbury, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020 at Trinity Oaks Nursing Home. Mrs. Reid was born on December 29, 1934 in Rowan County and was the daughter of the late Ray Zacharay Overcash and Minnie Hooks Overcash.

Ruth worked in health care as a CNA and enjoyed helping people. She helped her granddaughter prepare meals at the First United Methodist Church Preschool. Ruth was always there for her children and being with her grandchildren brought her much joy. In her spare time, she loved to grow flowers and be outdoors. One of her favorite things was going to the What a Burger.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband of 65 years, Walter H. Reid, her daughters Donna Eckstein and Debbie Hill as well as her sister, Kay Flickinger and son in-law Ray Brown and her longtime friend, Carol Sides.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Sherry Brown and her sons Terry “Buck” Reid (Tina) and Jeff Reid (Tiffany). Also surviving her are her 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

A private graveside service to celebrate her life will be held with her family officiated by Preacher Jay Moon.
