He was born on March 11, 1961, in Mecklenburg County. Barry was a family man, admired for his witty sense of humor and his dedication to anything he was passionate about. He was a loving husband of 33 years, a proud father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Barry was a hard-working man who served in law enforcement for more than 30 years. He started his career at the Salisbury Police Department, where he proudly served for 18 years. His remaining law enforcement career was with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, where he was still employed on a part-time basis after retiring. Barry was happiest outdoors, where he especially enjoyed growing beautiful flowers and maintaining an immaculate lawn. Most importantly, Barry left this world a better place.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Shannon, and his children Nolan Rodgers (Zuzana) and Morgan Pope (Sonny), as well as his grandchildren Myles Pope and Aiden Rodgers. Barry will also be fondly remembered by his mother Polly Langford, brother Randy Rodgers (Becky) and his nephews Fletcher Rodgers, Chris Rodgers (Emily), and their children Jeferson, Josiah, and Judah Rodgers.
