

Born on February 17, 1934 in Gaston County, he was the son of the late Everette Eugene and Barbara Ann Flowers Yount. He attended the Gaston County Schools and graduated from the North Carolina Vocational Textile School in Belmont. He proudly served his country in the US Army in the 82 Airborne. He was a member of the West A Tabernacle Church. Mr. Yount’s work was in textiles, having worked in several mills and retired from Cannon Mills as a loom fixer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Linda Staton Yount in 2009, his daughter Debra Sue Yount-Dowdell, and son Samuel Eugene Yount. Those left to cherish his memory is his son Bobby Ray Yount (Barbara Anne) of Salisbury, step son Victor Melton of Taylorsville, grandchildren, Derick Yount, Angela Yount, Samantha Varner, Timmy Dowdell and Jason Dowdell. Also surviving him are his step grandchildren Jonathan McDaniel , Michael McDaniel II, Stephanie Melton and Danielle Melton. He also had numerous great grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Monday from 7:00 til 9:00 at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with funeral on Tuesday at 10:00 am also at Linn Honeycutt with burial at Salisbury National Cemetery.
