Billy was was born March 1, 1936 to the late Howard L. Corriher and Ruth London Corriher. He graduated in 1954 from China Grove High School. After serving in the US Army, he was a carpenter by trade and started his career in the construction industry. He retired as a long-time employee of Davidson College. As a lifelong member of Mt. Zion United Church of Christ in China Grove, he served in the capacities of deacon, elder, finance committee, van committee, youth groups and boy scouts.
Billy was passionate about spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed serving those he was around including being recognized in his later years by Meals on Wheels as an outstanding volunteer. Billy’s true love was entertaining people at Lake Norman and ensuring all were skiers.
Billy is survived by his wife, Jeanette Holdsclaw Corriher; two sons, Terry Corriher and Darren Corriher (Julia), four grandchildren, Kirstie Corriher, Travis Corriher, Chandler Corriher, and Trey Corriher and sister-in-law Thelma D. Corriher.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his brother Grey S. Corriher and sister Lynnie Ruth Goodman.
Service and visitation: The family will receive friends from 2 – 4pm Monday, September 17, 2018 at Mt. Zion United Church of Christ followed by funeral service officiated by Rev. Mark Burns.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the new building fund at Mt. Zion United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 1298, China Grove NC 28023 or Rowan County Meals on Wheels, 1307 S Salisbury Avenue, Spencer NC 28159.
