Born in Cabarrus County on September 29, 1932, she was the daughter of the late James Cleo Edwards and Pauline Hardman Burr.
In addition to her parents, Charlotte was also preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Delores Edwards and her loving husband, Edwin Wesley Crowell, who passed away December 21, 2011. They married on December 19, 1953, and shared 58 years together.
Charlotte worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company, advancing with the company (AT&T) and retired after 30 years of service.
She loved gardening, always caring for plants and her roses. For many years, Charlotte and Edwin enjoyed spending time with their friends, going dancing and spending time with her sister Phyllis at the beach.
Charlotte’s greatest achievements in life were her family, whom she loved greatly.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Vicky Poteat (Eddie) and Edwin Wesley Crowell, Jr. (Marilyn) and four grandchildren, Greg (Christy) Crowell, Jenna (Gary) Anderson, James (Mica) Poteat and Hollie (Tracy) McGinnis.
She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Avery Crowell, James Edward Poteat, Jr., Hayden Poteat, Abbey Crowell, Jacob Poteat, Ava Poteat, Luke Anderson and Judy Drew Anderson.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 7, 2025, from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home.
The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM in the Northcrest Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Mike Robinson and Rev. Gerry Steedly officiating. Charlotte will be laid to rest at Carolina Memorial Park.
