David Bates

Mr. Jeffery David Bates, 61 of Salisbury, passed away on November 21, 2013. Born on October 11,1952 in Davidson County, he was the son of the late Kenneth Jackson Bates Sr. and Delores Kresen Bates. A 1971 graduate of Boyden High School, he was a longtime member of Thyatira Presbyterian Church. There at Thyatira, he was a youth leader, PYC leader and co-moderator of Presbyterian youth council for Salem Presbytery. He was also a deacon, elder, Sunday school teacher, and involved with local and international church missions. Professionally, Mr. Bates was the corporate production manager for Johnson Concrete Co. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his brothers William Floyd Bates and Kenneth Jackson Bates Jr. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 39 years Beth S. Bates, sons, Jay Bates (Mandy) of Salisbury and Bryon Bates (Richelle) of Kannapolis and daughter Kresen Bates of the home. He was also survived by his sisters Karen Mintz of Rockwell and Judy Pesco (George) of Spencer. He also has a grandson Morgan Elisha Bates. Also surviving him is his special mother-in-law Jean Silliman and sisters-in-law Cynthia Hampton(Henry) and Kathy Bunton (Michael) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 til 5:00 at Thyatira Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall with memorial service at 5:00 also in the church with Rev. Bill Lindeman, minister.
