Mr. David F. Garmon, age 74 of China Grove, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at the VA Hospital in Salisbury after a period of declining health. Born April 7, 1947 in Rowan County, David was the son of the late Robert Garmon and Katherine Bass Garmon. He was preceded in death by his siblings; Gerald and Don and his twin sisters, Sandra and Linda. David attended Grace City Church.
After graduating high school, David went on to proudly serve his country in the US Army, where he served in the Ninth Infantry, driving the Ammo truck. After his service, he worked for the China Grove Police Department, was a North Kannapolis Special Deputy, and lastly working at the VA Medical Center from which he retired.
David had a passion for collecting old cars, going to car shows and being with his car collecting friends. He was one of the founding members of “The In Crowd” Car Club. He could be found eating breakfast at Jimmie’s Restaurant, where a lot of great conversations were held. He was a family man and loved spending his time with his grandchildren. David was just an all around great guy, who never met a stranger.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 25 ½ years, Linda, of the home. He also leaves behind his daughters, Tonya Griffin (Keith), Crystal Lawton (Todd) and Dannie Gullett and his sons, John Johnson (Lacy) and Henry Wamble (Angie). Also surviving David are his grandchildren, Miranda Garmon, Taylor Aistrop, Jalyn Johnson, Lylah Johnson, Eli Johnson, Evan Johnson, Julian Gullett, Sarah Gullett, Noah Gullett, Nathan Womble, Jacob Womble, Katlyn Womble, Daniel Brooks (Allison) and Tyler Osmont along with his great-grandchildren, Carter, Piper, Lilly, Najari, Alexander and Gabriella. He also leaves behind his car club buddies and many friends, nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Visitation for David will be on Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 11:00 – 12:00pm at Grace City Church in China Grove. Funeral Service will follow at 12:00pm officiated by Pastor Mark Murphy. Inurnment will follow with Full Military Honors at Salisbury National Cemetery at a later date.
