Delma Louise Smith

Mrs. Delma Louise Goodman Smith, 85 of China Grove passed away on Sunday October 8, 2017 at CMC Main in Charlotte. Born on March 12, 1932 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Ida Roseman Goodman. Mrs. Smith was educated at Rowan County Schools and was a long time active member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Salisbury, North Carolina. She worked for many years in Cannon Mills as an Inspector. She loved gardening and flowers, she also enjoyed making her own clothes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her brothers, Walter, Leroy, and W.T. Goodman Jr, and her sisters, Margie Patterson, Mae Bell Whittington, Edna Hunter, and Ruth Irvin. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 62 years, Walter Smith and daughter Annette Hampton and her children, James, Larissa, and Trevon Hampton. She is also survived by sisters, Hazel Corriher and Carrie Reavis.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church with funeral to follow, also at the church at 11:00 by Rev. D.J. Lura. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, 205 Saint Pauls Church Road, Salisbury, North Carolina, 28146.
