Doris Goodman

Doris Marilyn Yost Goodman 86 of Salisbury, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Magnolia Gardens Nursing Home in Spencer. Born on January 11, 1929 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Henderson and Maggie Shulenburger Yost. She was a graduate of China Grove High School and a lifelong member of St. Marks Lutheran Church. There at St. Marks, she was a member of WELCA, member of Circles 1 and 3 and was instrumental in setting up the history room. Earlier in life, she worked for China Grove Cotton Mills as a timekeeper, then the NC Lutheran Home laundry room, and retired from Rowan County Schools in 1997 as a custodian. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband Carl Henry Goodman on July 17, 2015, sisters Ruth McKinney and Margaret Cress and brothers, Jimmy, Henderson and Lewis Yost. Those left to cherish her memory is her daughter Christina Bostian (Kenneth) of Rockwell and son Danny Carl Goodman of Salisbury. She is also survived by her grandson Dakota Bostian.

Visitation will be on Friday Oct. 2, 2015 from 6:00 til 8:00 at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with funeral on Saturday Oct. 3, 2015 at 2:00 pm at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Salisbury with Rev. Gene Bruce, minister. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Marks Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, 5202 Mooresville Rd. Salisbury, NC 28147.
