

Emogene Corriher Safrit went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the age of 71. She was born in Iredell County on April 12, 1946 to the late Joel Corriher and Louise Wilson Corriher. She lived in China Grove all her life surrounded by family. Emogene was a graduate of South Rowan High School and then attended UNC Charlotte. After school, she worked with the family business for over 40 years. She was an active member of Mt. Zion UCC of China Grove and enjoyed teaching Sunday School from the age of 15 and was recently the teacher of the Mrs. James Classroom. She was also a member and past President of the Women's Guild at Mt. Zion. She was a loving mother and grandmother, as well as a devoted daughter and sister. Her love of God and his son Jesus Christ gave her strength and comfort throughout her life.
Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Kathleen Kirk of China Grove; sons, John and Patricia Safrit of Mebane, N.C. and Josh and Gail Safrit of China Grove. Emogene had four grandchildren: Patrick Safrit, Nicholas Safrit, Joel Safrit, and Colt Safrit.
Her family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home of China Grove. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at Mt Zion UCC of China Grove officiated by Rev. Mark Burns. Burial will directly follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in China Grove.
