

Evelyn Margaret Childers Weant finished her earthly journey on September 1, 2025, and is now with her Savior in her eternal home. After several years of declining health, she passed away in her home on the Weant farm. Evelyn’s husband of 66 years, Roy Daniel Weant, and her sister Lois Childers lovingly cared for her and were with her at her passing.
Evelyn attended the Buzzard Run one room schoolhouse in Alexander County from 1939-1945, Hiddenite High School from 1945-1948, and China Grove High School 1948-1951. She graduated from Evans College of Commerce in Concord in 1952. She completed a course at the Stone School of Charm and Modeling in Charlotte, NC in 1957.
Evelyn’s career as an executive secretary included Pontiac Motor Company Charlotte, Cone Mills Greensboro and Cannon Mills Kannapolis. She left the workforce to stay at home with her children Michael and Angela.
Evelyn was an avid reader, loved listening to gospel music and good preaching. Evelyn described herself as having “an inquisitive mind.” She was of the Baptist Faith.
Evelyn was the daughter of the late Lloyd Levi Childers and Annie Mayzo Campbell Childers. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Scott Weant, daughter, Angela Dawn Weant Gobble, her brothers Rondal Lloyd Childers and Troy Lee Childers.
She is survived by her husband Roy Daniel Weant, her sister, Lois Lillian Childers (China Grove), brother Jimmie Carl Childers, Sr and his wife Pat Mann Childers (Salisbury), along with a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at West Lawn Cemetery in China Grove on Friday September 5, 2025, at 3:00 PM.
