Florence Immaculate Krueger passed away on August 4, 2026, at the age of 81, following a courageous battle with chronic illness. Born on December 8, 1944, in Stamford, Connecticut, Florence was the cherished daughter of Leonida Pimpinella. She was predeceased by her mother and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Florence was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose life reflected love, kindness, and steadfast devotion to family. She married the love of her life, John Krueger, on November 16, 1963, in Stamford, Connecticut. Together they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage, raising three children—Sharon Dunaway (Bryan Dunaway), Sandra Krueger, and Shaun Krueger (Nicole Krueger)—and creating a home remembered for its warmth, laughter, and welcome.
A graduate of Stamford Catholic High School, Florence worked in clerical support at Kemper Insurance and PMAB until her retirement. Yet it was in the care she gave to those she loved that her life’s truest purpose was most clearly seen. A devoted matriarch, she was the heart of family gatherings, bringing thoughtfulness and steady attention to every holiday and occasion, and making each one feel both magical and enduring.
Florence expressed her generous spirit through creativity and care. She loved crafting and cooking, and her hands were rarely still—creating intricate needlepoint and crochet pieces that became keepsakes in the lives of those around her. Her family especially treasures the cookbook of cherished recipes she lovingly compiled as a gift to her daughters. Each grandchild was welcomed with a hand-knitted blanket, a tender tradition that spoke quietly and beautifully of her constant, selfless love. Her home became a haven where dinners were shared, craft activities were planned, and every person could feel chosen and included.
Her vibrant personality shone in the simple joys she delighted in: the color lavender, clowns, collectibles, elephants, licorice candies, the movie “Coraline,” and the song “Soul Sister.” These beloved favorites, like so many of her traditions, remain gentle reminders of the brightness she brought to everyday life.
Florence is survived by her devoted husband, John Krueger; her sister, AnnMarie Durant; her children, Sharon Dunaway (Bryan Dunaway), Sandra Krueger, and Shaun Krueger (Nicole Krueger); her grandchildren, Matthew Dunaway, Caleb Dunaway, Shaun Michael Krueger (Paula), Logan Dugger, Alexa Kenley, Ava Kenley (Hunter), Rachel Russ, Jonathan Krueger, Carly Krueger, Catherine Krueger, Mattilda Dunaway, Norah and Kennedy Dugger-Reed, and Gwendolyn Krueger; and five great-grandchildren who will carry forward her legacy of love and compassion.
A simple gathering of friends and family will take place on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The family has asked for everyone to wear purple to honor Florence’s life.
