Frances Black

Born on January 20, 1934 in Rowan County, she was the daugther of the late Daniel Dewey and Cora Mabe Gaines.

Educated in the Rowan County Schools, she was a faithful member of Corriher Heights Baptist Church. Mrs. Black worked for Corriher Mills for many years in the card and winding rooms. She loved to go to the beach and do gardening. Her family was very important to her and she loved them very much. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her children Kenneth, Nathan and Darlene Black as well as brothers Claude, Dewey, W.L. "Dub", Forrest, James and Nelson Gaines as well as a sister Vernie Frederick. Those left to cherish her memory is her husband of nearly 67 years, Claude O. Black, children, Kathy Black McClamrock of Mt. Ulla, David Black (Maureen) of China Grove,Teresa Black Hill (Billy) of Kannapolis, Rickie Black (Kathy) of China Grove. Vickie Black Boone (Kenny) of China Grove, Doreen Black of China Grove and a grandson raised in the home Joseph Black of China Grove. Also surviving her are her 18 grandhildren 25 great grandhiildren and 3 great great grandhildren.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 7:00 til 9:00 at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with funeral on Thursday at 2:00 at Corriher Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Pethel, minister.
