Mr. Frank Malloy Gibson, 87, of Kannapolis, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Tucker Hospice House. Frank was born in LaGrange, GA on November 1, 1938 to the late Simon Paul Gibson and Rachel E. Evans Gibson.
Frank grew up in Cedartown, Georgia, attended Carson-Newman College in TN, and proudly served his country in the US Navy. He was an #5 radarman aboard the U.S.S. Kearsarge in the Vietnam War and on other tours. Frank worked as a sales representative for W.A. Brown & Son of Salisbury for more than 20 years. Upon his retirement, he volunteered for 7 years at the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte. Frank was an active and faithful member of First Presbyterian Church, Kannapolis, where he sang in the choir (over 30 years), played handbells, taught Sunday School, portrayed the disciple Matthew in “The Last Supper” drama (8 productions), and served as an Elder. He twice travelled to Mwandi, Zambia on Mission trips, was a dedicated member of the Gideons International, and was an active supporter of Prison Fellowship.
Frank was a strong and faithful servant of the Lord, always giving glory to God for every good thing in his life and sharing his faith openly with anyone who would hear. He loved his church family well and was a man of great character and integrity. Frank had a great sense of humor, was a patient listener and a wise counselor, and consistently looked for ways to help those in need. The bearer of a magnanimous smile, Frank met no strangers.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his sister, Paula Gibson Thielen. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Peggy Wehunt Gibson; his daughter, Jennifer (Rick) Watkins; his sons Jason (Susan) Gibson, Jeffrey Byrd, and John Gibson; a stepdaughter, Ginger Reed, and stepsons Bobby and David Reed.
