Mr. Frank Cauble Patterson, age 88 of China Grove, died on Monday, January 14, 2019 at his home. Mr. Patterson was born in Rowan County on June 17, 1930 to the late James Albert Patterson and Berta Catherine Cauble. His brother, Carl Eugene Patterson and sister, Betty Lou Black also preceded him in death. Mr. Patterson was educated in Rowan County Schools, was a graduate of North Carolina State University where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. He proudly served his country as a First Lieutenant in the Army during the Korean War. Mr. Patterson spent his career farming and his family farm was well known throughout the community with their tomatoes and strawberries. He was chosen young farmer of the year in 1962.
He was a lifelong member of Lutheran Chapel Church where he served in various capacities throughout the Church including President of Church Council and many other roles where he faithfully served for many years. He was also a member of the Advisory Council for South Rowan High School and later became a Board Member of the Rowan-Salisbury School System, a position he held for over twenty years. He served on the Board for Rowan Cabarrus Community College and was a member of the China Grove Rotary Club. He also spent time delivering Meals on Wheels in the community.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Norma H. Patterson. His daughters, Susan Patterson Tucker (Tommy), Beth Patterson Masters, and Carolyn Patterson Bremer (Chip), also survive him. He also leaves behind his sisters, Ann Patterson Phillips and Nancy Patterson White along with grandchildren, Elizabeth Tucker Hazelwood (Dustin), Callie Tucker Janda (Ryan), Jake Masters, Lauren Bremer and Will Bremer and his great grandchild, Tucker Grey Hazelwood along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Patterson will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 11:00AM at Lutheran Chapel Church, 135 Eudy Road, China Grove officiated by the Reverend Susan Bame. The family will receive guests in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
