Gary was the son of Millard Blackwelder and the late Sheryn Lynnette Knight.
Those left to cherish his memories are his father Millard Blackwelder; two brothers Marty Gibson (Kim) and Stephen Blackwelder (Cami); two nieces Kelsie and Kate; one nephew Evan; his dear friends John Wilson and Sherry Haigler Buttery; and his loving dog Lacey.
Gary was known for his love of all animals, and his sense of humor. While he was never certified as such, those who loved him would call him crazy. Gary had the personality that if you knew him, you liked him.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for memorials to be sent to the Humane Society of Concord and Greater Cabarrus County.
A memorial service will be held at the Salisbury National Cemetery on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 1 PM.
