Mr. Gerald Thomas "Tommy" Shoe, age 74 of Kannapolis, peacefully passed away at his home on Sunday, July 4, 2021 after a period of declining health. Born March 14, 1947 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Robert Lowson Shoe and Emma Lois Foster Shoe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald, Bernard and Howard and his sisters, Myra Shoe Williams and JoAnn Shoe Garmon.
Tommy was a faithful member of Main Street Baptist Church. He spent his career as a sheet metal mechanic working in the mechanical engineering industry. In his spare time prior to becoming ill, he loved grilling for family gatherings and spending time with his precious family. He loved working on old cars and just tinkering – always having some type of busy project going. Tommy was also active with the Life Village Ministry in Woodleaf. He loved helping others and had a servant’s heart…always helping those in need. His greatest love was his family, spending his time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 26 years, Susan, of the home; his son, Thomas Mark Shoe (Kelly Lussier Shoe) and his daughters, Crystal Shoe DeHart (Gene Edward DeHart) and Melinda Roe (John). He also leaves behind twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren along with his sisters in-law, Bonita Shoe, Pat Shoe and Frances Shoe and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Visitation for Tommy will be on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove. Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 2:00pm at Main Street Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Billy Beaver. Burial will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Concord.
