Helen Marie Cummings

Mrs. Cummings was born on February 27, 1941 in Forsyth County and was the daughter of the late Robert Nicholson and Beulah Hall Nicholson.. Helen was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother.

She dedicated years of her life to helping others through Davidson County Social Services and the former Tri-County Mental Health in Salisbury. She was instrumental in bringing the first apartments for adults with mental illness to Rowan County through Tri-County Mental Health. Helen will be dearly missed by all who know and loved her. She was a wise, quiet, gentle soul who touched us all through her love and acceptance of others.

Helen is preceded by son Ray Cummings, daughter Libby Cummings, sister Almetia Brooks and husband Flash, and brothers David Nicholson and wife Ione and Fred Nicholson and wife, Betty, and brother in law Wayne Cruse.

She is survived by her loving wife and partner of 36 years, Judy Coble, her sister Edith Cruse, daughter Gwen Faggart (David) and son Robert Shinn; granddaughters Christina Tucker (Tony), Bethany Laughter (Larry), Lyndsey Shinn (Joshua) and Ashley Allen (Dustin) and grandsons Donnie Phillips (Elizabeth) and Joshua Faggart (Kat) and Austin Shinn (Stephanie). Great Grandchildren include Leslie and Jonathan Tucker, Alyssa, Dylan and Natalie Phillips, Lyla and Liam Eaves, and Brycen, Cayden and Colten Allen and Lilly, Merry and Noel Faggart as well as nieces and nephews Karen Anderson and Janet Walker, Keith Nicholson, Mandy Cruse, Eric Nicholson, Edie Parker and Debbie Nicholson.

Helen was most proud of her family. She loved them all dearly and was very proud of them.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Coltrane Life Center, 321 Corban Ave. S.E. Concord, NC 28025.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Atrium Health Care Cabarrus for the compassionate care they gave to Helen and her family during her illness.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at 12:00 PM at West Lawn Memorial Park.
