

Janette B. Dixon of Concord, NC died on March 28, 2026. Her graveside service will be held at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 2, 2026, and will be conducted by Pastor Candice Carter of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband Robert T Dixon of Concord, a son Terry L Bame of Statesville, grandson Christopher H Bame and wife Brynn of Concord, granddaughter Laura B Messenger and husband Brian of China Grove, two great-grandchildren Emma Messenger and Carson Messenger, nieces Tammy Gentle of Mount Pleasant, Donna Walls and Debbie Efird of Kannapolis, and stepson Ted H Dixon, wife Elspeth and family of Pound Ridge, NY. She was preceded in death by her first husband Harry L Bame, a brother Donald R Heglar and his wife Frances M Heglar.
Before moving to Concord, she was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in China Grove where she participated in various choirs, taught Sunday School, and served on Church Council and the Building Committee. She was also a member of the China Grove Women’s Club serving one term as President.
After graduating high school in 1952, she attended Catawba College in Salisbury majoring in education. She later attended Appalachian State in Boone, NC working toward a graduate degree. She was a career educator, teaching in the Mooresville, Salisbury and Rowan County school systems.
After retiring and moving to Blowing Rock, NC in 1985, she became active in the local Humane Society and volunteered at Watauga Medical Center in Boone. Throughout her life, she enjoyed reading and birding with her husband Bob. She was also an accomplished Bridge player.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Landis, NC or to any ‘no-kill’ animal sanctuary.
