Jess Monroe Brown

Mr. Jess Monroe Brown, 92 of Cleveland, passed away on Sunday December 6, 2015 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Born on April 6, 1923 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary Morris Brown.

Educated in the Rowan County schools, he was a lifelong member of Landis Baptist Church where he was secretary of his Sunday School class. Mr. Brown served his country in the US Navy, stationed in the South Pacific during WWII. He retired from Chemspun- Templon Mills in Mooresville after many years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a grandchild. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Betty Morris (John) of Cleveland, Robert M. Brown (Sheree) of China Grove, Terry B. Waller (Bobby) of Rockwell and Ricky F. Brown (Alison) of Lincolnton. Also surviving him are his brothers, O.R. "Bub" Brown, Walter "Pete" Brown, and Hoyle Brown, and sisters Ann Cavin and Edith Sechler. He also had 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6:00 til 8:00 at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with service on Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Landis Baptist Church with Rev. Richie Honeycutt, minster Burial will be at Salisbury National Cemetery on Thursday at 1:00 pm.
