John and I were good friends in our high school years, we shared many days of fun and laughter. So sorry for your loss.

I best knew John when we were very young, in high school.  He was such a funny guy and a great friend!  He has such a lovely family and I wish we had been closer in recent years!  I know he will be truly missed by all his family and friends!  From afar, have a great afterlife my friend!  Joy so sorry for you and all you children!

I met John in 2004 when I joined the staff of Linn-Honeycutt. From the very first greetings we exchanged, I knew I had made a new friend.  I was so blessed that our friendship strongly lasted over 20 years.  John and I worked many, many hours together, serving families in the times of most need.  Always cheerful and smiling, John had a unique gift of making the worst of times somehow brighter.  I never knew what the day would bring with him around. For I am sure I have said "that darn John" (lovingly of course) thousands of times in the past 20 years. During any normal work day, you could often find John coming back from the convenience store, Sundrop in hand, along with a Granola Nature Bar or bag of Crackerjacks,  and always grinning ear to ear.  Or, he may have  been returning from a quick trip to Value Village or Goodwill, on one of his many ventures for another unneeded tie or pair of dress shoes. All which quite often took place smack dab in the middle of a busy, busy day at the funeral home.  Therefore, the "that darn John" would slip right out. Just one of the many unique characteristics John so often displayed. You just couldn't get mad at him.  For that goofy, childlike grin would steal your heart. every time.  To say there will never be another John Drye is an understatement.  I'll forever treasure our countless hours working together and the many hours spent together when not. They say a person is blessed if they have at least one great friend in their lives.  With John in my life, I can truly say that yes, in deed, I've been abundantly blessed. Love you John and thanks for being my friend!!

So sorry for  the loss of this sweet soul ! When Katie was killed, he was not only saddened, but, so very helpful and compassionate! Thank you and enjoy your new life in heaven !

John helped myself and so many others during a time of unimaginable grief. It takes a special person to be able to lighten such a heavy moment, and I will never forget him bopping in and out where we were preparing, telling us he really digs the playlist we made, just being his genuine self. I am grateful I met him and experienced his light. My sincere condolences to his Joy & their beautiful children.

I had the privilege of working with John, not daily but as he had families that chose cremation. John was a special person. Everyone knew him in the community. He served alot of families, taking great care of each of them. He was committed to making sure each family was giving the upmost care in their time of need. You will be missed John. Prayers for the family

I worked with John at the funeral home for many years as a part time associate going back to Rufus Honeycutt.    With another career path, I came to appreciate the dedication and hard work that is put into the title of Funeral Director.  It's not a 9-5 job but a 24/7.   John was dedicated to the profession and well known in the community.  Many families trusted him for the care of loved ones.  There are many memories and stories from my time working with John.  Now in eternal rest, John, we will see you later.

I've known the Linn/Drye Family all my life.  They were the backbone of Landis and through them many of us were able to go to college.  John was my friend and his service to our community is par excellence!  He laughed with us, grieved with us and loved everyone he dealt with.  To his family I offer my deepest sympathy in his passing.  He helped others in the losses of their loved ones, but where he is now, there is no death, no grief, no sorrow.  Let us remember him and his family and know he is healed now!  God bless you all.

John was very special to us. Both my parents taught John in junior high at Corriher-Lipe and his. John was a household name in our family. He always made my parents feel so incredibly special years later and handled the arrangements for my Father. When my Mother passed away  August of this year, I walked into Linn-Honeycutt relying on John to  make service arrangements for her but was told about his illness. Needless to say, I was devastated. He had taken care of arrangements for many of our family members. However, John was a part of laying Mom to rest because he knew where to tell Michelle where to look for the "old" files in the archives. John was truly a prominent and influential figure and his physical presence will be deeply missed.

John was not only a member of our staff, but he was our family.  Working side-by-side him everyday has taught me valuable lessons that I will carry for years to come.  What an impact he has made on this community with dignified, respectful, and genuine, compassionate care.
