Mrs. Morgan was born on January 22, 1944 in Rowan County and was the daughter of the late John William Basinger and Ruth Meatta Drye Basinger. A graduate of South Rowan High School, she was of the Baptist Faith. Mrs. Morgan achieved training in risk management at Food Lion Stores, where she worked for many years before her retirement.
In her spare time, she was an Avon salesperson, receiving top sales honors. In her personal life, Johnnie was a loving Mother to her children and any child that entered her home. Her passions were reading, cooking for those she loved, growing vegetables with Henry in their garden and sharing them with friends and family. She was a loving friend to all those who knew her and will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Steven Lee Morgan and granddaughter Adalynne Morgan.
Those with cherished memories are her husband of 59 years, Henry Lee Morgan, sons Timothy Wayne Morgan (Leah), and Jonathan Reid Morgan, as well as sisters, Scottie Basinger Sloop, Pamela Basinger, Tanna Basinger and April Basinger Wesolowski.
Visitation will be on Wednesday March 29, 2023 from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with funeral services on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 2:00 pm also at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home with burial to follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
