Born on March 6, 1925, in Rowan County, Juanita was the beloved daughter of the late William Henry Goodnight and Maudie Patterson Goodnight. A lifelong resident of China Grove, she was more than a witness to a century of profound change - she was a steadfast presence in the lives of all who knew her. Her life was one of quiet strength, deep compassion, and timeless grace.
Juanita was the living heart of her family, a gentle matriarch who stitched generations together through love, tradition, and resilience. Whether in her professional years at Charlotte Pipe & Foundry, working in her alterations business-transforming cheerleading uniforms and wedding gowns with care and precision or simply sharing stories of days gone by, she brought warmth and intention to everything she did.
Her life was a rich tapestry of simple joys and deep-rooted values. She found happiness in gardening, especially among her flowers and vegetable garden, cooking meals that nourished both body and soul, dancing, traveling, playing cards, and welcoming others into her home with laughter and love. Her hands, skilled and strong, crafted many items that warmed many hearts and homes.
Juanita was also a woman of enduring faith. As a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Landis, her spiritual foundation guided her life and inspired those around her. Her devotion was lived, not just spoken - through acts of kindness, quiet generosity, and steadfast love.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Jack Benny Alexander, her son Charles Eugene Adcock, and her seven siblings, Carry E. Goodnight, Sadie Goodnight Pennington, Robert Goodnight, James Goodnight, Ray Goodnight, Lawrence Goodnight, and Joel Goodnight. Juanita was the last surviving member of her immediate family, a quiet testament to her resilience and strength.
She is survived by her loving granddaughters, Brenda Adcock Sloop (Stanley) and Michelle Adcock (Neil); her cherished great-granddaughter, Haley Sloop; stepsons, Benny Alexander and Audie Alexander, and all of whom carry forward her legacy of love and grace.
