

Saturday evening, July 30, 2011, at his home, surrounded by
his loving family, following a period of declining health.
Born Jan. 7, 1945 in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the
late William Houston and Amanda Elizabeth
Luther Collins. A 1963 graduate of South
Rowan High, Mr. Collins retired from National
Starch after more than 30 years of faithful service
and later worked for Christie Electric, and
was a member of First Baptist Church of China
Grove.
Mr. Collins was a loving and devoted family
man who adored and enjoyed being with his
grandchildren. A perfect example of showing and giving unconditional
love, Mr. Collins never met a stranger and was a
"little man with with a big heart".
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his
sisters, Francis Lucas and Lucille Pollard.
Family members left to cherish his memory include his
wife, Lucy Templeton Collins; children, Kim Collins Tate and
husband, Les, of China Grove, Jennifer Collins Messer and
husband, Mitch of Kannapolis, Brian Collins and wife, Kim of
Salisbury, PFC Dwight Collins, USMC, Dawn Hernandez,
David McDaniel of Charlotte, Brad Rainwater of Wyoming
and Robert Rainwater of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Christine
Myers, Gunnar Hogan, Bryson and Garrison Collins, Gabriela
Hernendez, Samantha Messer, William Messer, Jeff Loman,
Sarah Tate Horn and Amanda Tate and his brothers, Max
Collins and wife, Terri of Lowell and Sidney Collins of China
Grove.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Tuesday, Aug. 2,
6-8 p.m. at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove.
Service: Funeral services to remember and celebrate Mr.
Collins' life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3 at First
Baptist Church in China Grove, conducted by the Rev. Steve
Wilson, Pastor. Burial will follow at Liberty United Methodist
Church Cemetery in Mocksville.

and Palliative Carecenter of Winston-Salem, 101 Hopsice
