

Her family and friends knew her as Libby. She was born on May 15, 1948 in Concord to the late George E. Hatley and Martha Kindley Hatley. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Donald Faggert, son Jason Faggert, daughter Michelle Green (Nathan) of Burke, Va., sister and best friend, Linda Sims (Jimmy) of Trinity, NC and a number of cousins, nephews and nieces.
Mary graduated from Concord High School in 1966 and Appalachian State Teachers College in 1970. She taught 6th grade for 30 years in the Cabarrus County School System. She always loved sports, a trait she learned from her father. In high school,she played basketball, and because of her fine outside shot, won double honors by being named to the All Tournament and South Piedmont Conference Teams. She was also a gifted writer, and during her teaching career, she won the Cabarrus County Young Author Award for an article she wrote about her father.
She loved the San Diego Chargers and Phillip Rivers was her favorite quarterback. She was also a diehard North Carolina State fan, and loved getting on the Pack Pride forums to express her views.
Mary will be remembered as a kind and loving woman. She loved her family, especially her children.

Visitation will be on Tuesday May 30, 2017 at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home from 10:00 til 11:00 with memorial service to follow at 11:00 am also at the funeral home with Rev. Gene Edwards, minster
