Mary Shuffler

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Castor Shuffler, 92 of Rockwell passed away peacefully on August 6, 2014 at Liberty Commons Nursing Center. She was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother who went to be with Jesus surrounded by many loved ones. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Johnny (M.L.), her father and mother John and Bertha (Stirewalt) Castor, her five sisters, Beulah Overcash, Pearl Linker, Wilma Russell, Ruth Overcash, Lizza Castor an two brothers, Floyd and Otha Castor. She is survived by four children, Judy Goreham of Millington, Tenn., Jimmie Shuffler (Lynn) of Wallace NC, Randy Shuffler of New Bern, Stacy Shuffler (Phyllis) of St. Petersburg, Fla. and a special nephew Leroy Castor. Her grandchildren are Mark, Matthew and Jason Shuffler, and Monica Moody, Christy Lawrence, and Debbie Murihead. She also had 8 loving great-grandchildren. Mary was born on May 27, 1922 and raised in Rockwell. She was married to Johnny her school sweetheart on April 12, 1941. They moved to New Bern, NC after WW II where they raised their family until returning to Rockwell in 1990. Mary retired from the Stanley-Bosch Power Tool Co. in New Bern where she worked on the tool assembly line. She loved camping and traveling across the countryside with Johnny. Her family and friends will remember the delicious deserts, rolls, and fruit preserves she was famous for. She was forever grateful for the prayers, kindnesses and living assistance that her family and friends provided. She will be greatly missed! Her family looks forward to being with her again one day in Haven.

Service:

11:00 am Saturday August 9, 2014 in North Crest Chapel of Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove, with Rev. mark Burns of Mt. Zion United Church of Christ officiating.

Entombment will follow in West Lawn Mausoleum.
