China Grove

Rev. Mitchell Dane Carlyle, age 62 of China Grove, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021 of complications with his courageous battle with Covid-19. Born October 18, 1958 in Forsyth County, Mitch was the son of Linda Griffin Carlyle and the late Redden Carlyle. He was serving as Pastor of Beacon of Grace Community Church in Walkertown, NC at the time of his death and also serving others with his gift of compassion at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home.

Mitch was the picture of a God loving man. He lived his life of service to the Lord and shared his passion for scripture and ministry not only through all he did but with his kind words. He loved to preach the Word of God and he was a gifted prayer warrior. If Mitch told you he would be praying for you, you knew for certain God would hear those prayers. His passion was helping others not just in their time of need but because he loved to help others.

In his spare time, Mitch loved to go fishing. His daughter says fishing was just an excuse to have snacks and watch the bobber instead of really fishing! He did enjoy fly-fishing with his son (even though he would trash his tackle box). He loved traveling to the beach or the mountains or just making great family memories. His most favorite pastime was spending time with his granddaughters. Mitch was a true family man, his time with them was precious, and making those memories was most important to him. In his words, treasures are not here but in heaven.

Those left to cherish his memory in addition to his mother Linda, are his loving wife of 14 years, Twila Rhodes Carlyle. He also leaves behind his daughter, Cara Carlyle Kelemecz (Andrew) of China Grove, and his sons, Mitchell Garrett Carlyle (Gwendolyn) of Newark, IL and Brandon Mitchell Henderson of China Grove; his brothers Rev. Mark Carlyle (Lori) and Rodney Carlyle. Also surviving Mitch are his precious granddaughters, Abigail, Lilah, Atlee, Kaylee and baby Emilee making her appearance soon.

Celebration of Life Services for Mitch will be on Monday, March 22, 2021 at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00pm and Chapel Service following at 6:00pm officiated by his brother, Rev. Mark Carlyle. The family has requested you kindly remember Mitch with memorials in his honor to Beacon of Grace Community Church, 4700 New Walkertown Road, Walkertown, NC 27051. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.linn-honeycutt.com. Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Rev. Carlyle and saddened deeply by his passing.

We had a lot of memories hanging out and serving God. Never got to meet up at Maggie Valley and fish. But I know Heaven is a better place. Miss our conversations on life and serving God. So many laughs we had hanging out. And always making our kids priority as single dads.
So glad you came to Illinois . You touched all our lives at Joliet Church . Your friendship was tremendous.
See you in Heaven Mitch!

I am so blessed to have known Mitch Carlyle for such a short while. I truly loved this precious man of God. My heart is sad but my heart also rejoices that he is singing with Jesus. Twila, you and the family are in my prayers. May the Lord give each of you great peace and comfort . Love each of you. Rose Sams.

Growing up with Mitch in church all you had to say is, what you wanna do? He always wanted to sing. So before church, after church, weekends that's where we spent most of our time. My hands would get so tired from playing the piano. And when he sung he needed a microphone. You just hoped he didn't grab something that would break. Mitch had a servants heart and he has allowed God to lead him all these years. My prayers are with the entire family. This great man of God will be missed by many. Until then my heart will go on singing.

Our hearts are crushed at Beacon of Grace church. Mitch was a great pastor. He will be greatly missed, but now is heaven’s gain. He was a compassionate, caring man who looked after the church body, encouraging and uplifting all of us. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and our church family.

We thank God for the life and ministry of Mitchell Carlyle. He has completed his life’s work for the Lord on this earth and has finished well. I recognized the hand of God upon his life as his pastor many years ago. Mitchell was very talented and gifted that was evident in his ministry of singing and preaching. We are thankful that we had a small part in the early years of his ministry. I spent many days with Mitchell on the fishing bank. There are many special memories that he and our children shared as they grew up together. What a great legacy he has left his family that he loved dearly. May God give His peace and comfort to his family in the days to come.

I first met Mitch at the old conference grounds on West Market Street. He became the man that God intended him to be, and answered the call of God upon his life. It was good to have him for dinner at my home and see what God was doing for him. He will be missed by all who knew him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time of loss.

Hard to believe that this mans on and off health battles finally took his strength. Of course God knows the day we are born and the day we leave this tent of flesh behind only to finally go home. Infection, a weak immune system, among other health issues are a very hard battle to overcome. I pray for GODs peace and rest till we all go home to be with Christ Jesus. Such a loss but truly heavens gain.

Brother Carlyle was a dear friend over the years. As a young man he came to Raleigh
to work and needed a place to live, our family took him in. He lived with us and went to church with us for several weeks. He was like a member of our family.
Later when he became a pastor I worked with him in revival and enjoyed great Christian fellowship. He was my brother in Christ.

I have memories with Mitchell, my sister and other cousins "Playing church" as young children. I would be the piano player, others sang and praised the Lord, but Mitchell was always the preacher. God had placed in our hearts as young children our spiritual gifts, and it was a joy to see many fulfilled in our adult lives. Mitch, though we are saddened to lose you physically, we are ecstatic that you are now with the One you preached and sang about. We'll join you soon. I know I'll see you, and so many gone before in our family, in that great heavenly choir where we will forever worship Him.

Mitch was a dedicated and faithful man of God. He loved the work of the ministry , especially preaching the Word of God. He was faithful in small things as well as in larger things so we know his reward is great in Heaven. It was a pleasure to have known him and to serve with him. May God bless and sustain the family during this time.
